the messy middle of building best her yet

This has been an exciting summer for Best Her Yet. I've had consistent clients, I've watched the business start to gain momentum, and I've gotten to see pieces of the vision I had in my head actually come to life.

And I've learned a lot through the process. I've learned what is working, what isn't, what feels aligned, and what doesn't. But more importantly, I've started to see some gaps in how I'm bringing the Best Her Yet philosophy and methodology to life.

And to be honest, I think that's a good thing.

I never intended to have it all figured out.

When I launched Best Her Yet, I intentionally didn't wait until I had every piece of the puzzle figured out. I didn't have the perfect methodology or every offer perfectly defined. I didn't know exactly what this business would become.

I believed the best way to figure it out was to start.

So I did.

I worked with clients. I tested ideas. I created things. I paid attention to what was working and what wasn't. I changed things. I tried again.

I've always believed that one of the best ways to learn is through action. You can spend years researching, planning, refining, and waiting until you feel ready, but eventually you have to put something into the world and let the experience teach you.

That's what this season has done for me.

Coming back to the why

Somewhere along the way, I think I lost sight of my why a little bit.

I got caught up in the business of building a business. The offers, the messaging, the content, the website, the logistics. All of the things that need to be figured out when you're actually trying to make something work.

And in the middle of all of that, I found myself coming back to the question of why I wanted to build Best Her Yet in the first place.

At its heart, this has always been about women fully claiming their power. Finding their voice. Trusting themselves. Releasing the things that taught them to make themselves smaller. Remembering their worth. And then having the courage to build a life that reflects all of that work.

That part has never felt more clear to me.

What I'm realizing is that the way I'm bringing that vision to life isn't quite where I want it to be yet.

And I'm okay with that.

So I'm slowing down.

I've made the intentional decision to step back into research mode for a while. There are areas where I want to deepen my knowledge, skills I want to develop, and gaps in my own understanding that I want to thoughtfully fill before I try to build them into the Best Her Yet methodology.

I'm not doing this because I doubt the business or the direction I'm headed.

I'm doing it because I care about this work enough to want to do it well.

I don't want to rush to fill in the gaps just because I can see them. I want to learn. I want to understand. I want to experiment. And then I want to bring those things into the business in a way that feels intentional and true to what Best Her Yet is actually here to do.

The messy middle

I think there's a misconception that you have to have everything figured out before you start.

You see the finished website, the polished brand, the person who seems to know exactly what they're doing, and it's easy to assume they had the whole thing mapped out from the beginning.

I certainly didn't.

I've changed offers. I've changed messaging. I've questioned things. I've tried things that didn't work. I've had moments where I've wondered if I'm making the right decision.

And I'm still here.

In fact, I think being willing to change your mind and evolve as you learn is one of the most important parts of building something meaningful.

There's a difference between not having a direction and being willing to let the direction evolve as you learn more.

I know the direction.

I know why I'm building this. I know who I want to serve. I know what I believe. I know the kind of impact I want Best Her Yet to have.

I just don't know exactly what the final version looks like yet.

And maybe that's okay.

I've spent a lot of time talking about embracing new chapters, trusting yourself, and being willing to step into something before you know exactly how it's going to unfold.

It turns out I'm getting another opportunity to practice what I preach.

So for now, I'm slowing down. I'm learning. I'm listening. I'm filling in the gaps.

And I'm trusting that I don't need to know exactly where this is going to know that I'm on the right path.
